Our take
The Powermax45 SYNC is a 45 A hand plasma cutter that cuts 5/8 in. steel at a usable speed and severs 1-1/8 in. It runs on a 240V welder circuit and shop air.
Instead of a separate electrode, swirl ring, nozzle and shield, it uses one-piece SmartSYNC cartridges. The torch reads the cartridge and sets the mode and amperage, and you adjust amps right on the torch handle.
Plan your air before you buy: it needs about 7 scfm at 90 psi, clean and dry.

Will it run in your shop?
- 240V single-phase only. There is no 120V version of this machine.
- Ships with a NEMA 6-50P plug; Hypertherm specifies a 50 A time-delay breaker.
- Generator: 12.5 kVA (10 kW) for full output. Do not run on a phase converter.

Freight, returns and warranty
Freight and delivery
Machines over about 150 lb ship by freight truck to the curb; smaller ones ship by parcel carrier. For freight, the carrier calls to set a delivery window, and liftgate and residential delivery can be added to your order. Inspect the crate before you sign, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and report it within 48 hours. We file the freight claim.
Returns
Return terms for this machine are set by the manufacturer and confirmed before you order. Returns need a return authorization. Non-defective returns carry a restocking fee and return freight.

Hypertherm: 6 years or 500,000 starts on the power supply; 1 year on the torch and leads
